DOTA 2 is a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game that pits two teams with five players each, against each other, with each player controlling a single ‘hero.’ The game’s objective is to destroy the enemy’s ‘Ancient’, the building located at the center of their base.
Each hero has their own strengths and weaknesses, and each player would specialise in operating in a certain area of the map. Players then would fight in combat throughout the match for them to have their way towards the opponents’ base and eventually destroy their Ancient.
DOTA 2 is one of the world’s top competitive esports, with The International, the largest tournament of the game, offering prize pools of more than US$30 million making Esports Betting on DOTA 2 is even more lucrative than before.
HOW TO BET on DOTA 2
Sports per Head gives a range of different markets for customers who are looking to bet on competitive DOTA 2 action. We offer betting markets for all of the biggest DOTA 2 tournaments, including ESL One and BLAST: Bounty Hunt, The International, among many other worldwide events.
Winner of the Match
This is the main event for betting on any sport, and is also the easiest one to understand. The sportsbook will give you the choice to select Team A or Team B to win. Just select the team that you think might win the match.
Winner of the Map
Many DOTA 2 matches will use a best-of-three format, with a team needing to win two maps in order to win the whole match. Instead of choosing the team you think would win the whole match, the map winner market allows you to choose the team that you think might win a certain map.
To go to this market you need to choose the map you want to bet on in the tabs at the top of the match page, and then choose the team you think would win that map.
This market is a little bit more complicated but can be very useful if one team is a favourite to win a match and the odds are very small. Handicap betting works by putting an advantage on the underdogs or a disadvantage on the favourites.
For example, if Team A is a favourite to win the match, their maps handicap could be set at -1.5 on the sportsbook. This means that they begin the match on -1.5 map wins, and must win the match 2-0 for your bet to come in.
The underdogs would then be set a handicap of +1.5, meaning they begin the match with 1.5 map wins and only need to win a single map for your bet to come in.
Instead of betting on a single winner, the maps total market allows you to wager on how many maps you think will play in the match. You are simply betting on whether you think either team would win the match 2-0, or if the match will be taken to a third map.
The sportsbook would give you the choice of selecting over or under 2.5 maps. If you think that a team would win the match quickly, then you would select under, if you think that it will be a close match that requires three maps, then you would select over.
Predicting the Correct Score
This market allows you to predict exactly how you think the match will finish. The sportsbook will give you these four options: Team A to win 2-1, Team A to win 2-0, Team B to win 2-1, Team B to win 2-0. Simply choose the score you think might happen.
